Shopify development in Dubai, built for margin

A Shopify store is easy to launch and hard to make profitable. The difference sits in the parts nobody demos: how search behaves at two thousand SKUs, what the checkout does on a UAE-issued card, and whether a corporate buyer can order forty of something without phoning you.

  • +320% organic traffic, Bafco
  • 2 buyer types served from one catalogue
  • Shopify and Shopify Plus

Partners & recognition

The stack we work in, the clients we keep

The platforms we build and run campaigns in, and the clients whose numbers we publish with their names on. HubSpot is the one partnership we claim; the rest are tools we use, not badges.

  • The Reformery Clinic
  • Alma Laser
  • Roxana Aesthetics Clinic

The problem

Most Shopify projects fail after launch, not during it

The build is the easy part. What breaks a store is the six months afterwards, when the catalogue grows and the theme starts fighting you.

Where stores in this market actually lose money

  1. Search that gives up at scale

Shopify's native search is fine for two hundred products and poor at two thousand. Bafco sells office furniture across dozens of categories with overlapping specifications; without proper faceting and synonyms, the customer who typed 'ergonomic chair' sees nothing and leaves.

  2. One catalogue, two completely different buyers

A person buying a single chair and a procurement team specifying a floor of them want opposite things. One wants to check out in ninety seconds. The other wants a quote, a trade price and a purchase order. Most themes are built for the first and lose the second silently.

  3. Apps stacked until the store is slow

Every app adds script to the storefront. Eight of them and the product page takes four seconds on a mid-range Android, which is what a large part of this market browses on. The apps each solved a real problem; together they created a bigger one.

  4. Payments that were never tested locally

Card issuers in the UAE behave differently from the ones in a Shopify demo. Tabby, Tamara and cash on delivery all change the checkout flow, and cash on delivery changes your fraud exposure. This gets tested with real local cards or it does not get tested.

What is included

What we do on Shopify

From a first store to replatforming a catalogue that has outgrown what it is on.

Theme development

Built on Online Store 2.0 with sections your team can rearrange without us. We start from a clean base rather than a marketplace theme, because a purchased theme brings code you will pay to work around for years.

Store setup and migration

Products, variants, collections, metafields, customers and order history, moved with the URL structure preserved and redirected. A migration that drops the old URLs is a migration that donates your rankings to a competitor.

Checkout and payments

Local gateways, buy-now-pay-later, cash on delivery, and multi-currency where you sell beyond the UAE. On Plus, checkout extensibility for the steps a standard checkout will not do.

B2B and wholesale

Company accounts, price lists, quantity rules, quote requests and net terms. Either through Shopify's own B2B on Plus or as a parallel journey on the standard plan, depending on what the volume justifies.

Search and merchandising

Faceted filtering, synonyms, and collection rules that reflect how customers describe products rather than how the warehouse categorises them. This is usually the single highest-return change on an existing store.

App strategy and custom apps

An audit of what each installed app costs you in load time and subscription, and a custom app where three paid ones are doing the work of one. Fewer moving parts, faster storefront, smaller monthly bill.

Integrations

ERP, accounting, 3PL, CRM and marketplace feeds. Inventory that disagrees between systems is the fastest way to lose a repeat customer.

Performance

Measured on a mid-range Android over a normal mobile connection, not on a MacBook over office fibre. Image strategy, script budget and theme code, treated as one problem.

Technology

Shopify, and what we put around it

Shopify does a great deal well. These are the places it usually needs help in this market.

Platform

Standard plan through to Plus.

  • Shopify
  • Shopify Plus
  • Online Store 2.0
  • Liquid
  • Hydrogen
  • Shopify Functions

Payments

Tested with UAE-issued cards, not demo cards.

  • Shopify Payments
  • Telr
  • Network International
  • Stripe
  • Tabby
  • Tamara
  • Cash on delivery
  • Multi-currency

Search and merchandising

Where most existing stores gain the most.

  • Algolia
  • Searchanise
  • Boost
  • Shopify Search & Discovery

Operations

Inventory that agrees with itself.

  • SAP
  • Microsoft Dynamics
  • Zoho
  • QuickBooks
  • 3PL integrations
  • Aramex
  • DHL

Marketing

So the store is not a silo.

  • HubSpot
  • Klaviyo
  • Google Merchant Center
  • Meta Catalogue
  • TikTok Shop
  • Google Analytics 4
  • Server-side tagging

How we work

How a Shopify project runs with us

Shorter than a custom build, because most of the platform decisions are already made. The work is in the catalogue and the checkout.

What the store is actually doing

For an existing store: analytics, search logs, checkout drop-off, app load cost and the product data itself. For a new one: the catalogue structure and how customers will describe what they want. Product data quality decides most of what follows.

  • Checkout funnel and drop-off points
  • Search log review
  • App audit with load cost per app
  • Product data and taxonomy review

Theme, catalogue, checkout

Sections built so your team can rearrange pages without a developer. Catalogue and metafields structured for filtering. Checkout configured with the local payment methods and tested with real cards.

  • Online Store 2.0 sections
  • Metafields for faceted filtering
  • Local payment methods live
  • B2B journey where it applies

Moving without losing rankings

Full URL map from the old store, redirects verified before launch rather than after, and order and customer history preserved. This is the step that gets rushed and the one that costs the most when it is.

  • URL map and verified redirects
  • Products, variants and metafields
  • Customer and order history
  • Structured data preserved

The part that pays for the build

Once real traffic is on it: search behaviour, merchandising rules, checkout friction and page speed, reviewed monthly against revenue rather than against a rankings report.

  • Monthly search and merchandising review
  • Checkout friction testing
  • Speed budget maintained as apps change
  • Revenue-based reporting

Why us

Why us for Shopify

We are not a Shopify-only shop, which turns out to matter.

Bafco is published, with the number attached

Office furniture, two buyer types, one catalogue, +320% organic traffic. The full write-up including what did not work is on this site rather than in a deck.

Speed treated as a constraint, not a phase

Apps get audited for what they cost in load time before they get installed. A storefront that is fast at launch and slow six months later has not been maintained, it has been abandoned.

We will tell you when Shopify is the wrong answer

If the requirement is really a configurator, a marketplace or a B2B portal with contract pricing, Shopify may fight you the whole way. That is a first-meeting conversation, not a month-four discovery.

Search and merchandising, not just the build

The highest-return work on most existing stores is not a redesign. It is making search return the right thing and putting the right products in front of the right customer.

Questions

Shopify in Dubai, answered plainly

Including the questions about cost and about whether you should be on Plus.

AED 30,000 to AED 180,000 covers most of what we are asked to build. The number moves on catalogue size, whether you are migrating from another platform, how much B2B logic is needed, and how many operational systems have to be integrated. Anything quoted before those are known is a guess. We scope first, then price, and the scope document is yours whether or not you proceed. These are market ranges rather than a fixed rate card — the proposal carries the real figure.

Usually not until either your volume makes the standard plan's transaction fees more expensive than the Plus subscription, or you need checkout extensibility, native B2B or Shopify Functions. We will run that comparison on your actual numbers rather than recommending Plus by default.

Yes. The work that matters is product data, URL structure and order history. We build a full URL map first and verify every redirect on staging, because a migration that loses the old URLs hands your rankings to whoever ranks second.

Yes, and Bafco is the example. Company accounts, price lists and quantity rules for the trade buyer, a normal fast checkout for the individual. On Plus this is native; on the standard plan it is a parallel journey we build.

Shopify Payments where you qualify, otherwise Telr, Network International or Stripe. Tabby and Tamara for instalments, which materially affect conversion here. Cash on delivery is still expected in some categories, and it changes your fraud and returns exposure, so it is a commercial decision rather than a technical one.

Yes, through Shopify Markets. The thing to decide early is whether prices are converted or set per market, because rounded local pricing converts better than an exchange-rate figure with three decimal places.

Six to ten weeks for a new store of normal complexity. A migration with a large catalogue and several integrations runs three to four months. Product data preparation is almost always the long pole, and it is work your team can start immediately.

Yes. It is your code in your store, and any other Shopify developer can pick it up. We do not build on a proprietary framework that requires us.

Each one adds script to every page and a line to your monthly bill. Five apps at USD 30 is USD 1,800 a year plus a slower storefront. Where three of them overlap, a small custom app usually costs less over two years and loads faster.

If you want it. Some clients take the handover and run it in-house, which is a fine outcome. Others keep us on for merchandising, search and speed work, which is where the measurable revenue tends to be after month two.

No questions match — try another search.
