Web design & development

Web application development and custom software in Dubai

Web apps for the jobs a website can't do, once your Dubai business has outgrown email and spreadsheets: customer portals, dashboards, booking systems and internal tools, wired into the CRM you already run. And if a WordPress plugin would cover it, you'll hear that before anyone sends a quote.

  • Hourly Goyzer CRM to WordPress listing sync
  • 99+ projects delivered
  • 98 average PageSpeed across our client sites

What should the app do?

A senior person reads this and replies within one working day. No call centre, no drip sequence.

What we do

Custom web applications that do one job properly

Web application development means building software that runs in a browser and does a job, often behind a login. Your people sign in, see what their role allows and change your data. A website mostly informs. Custom web development earns its place when no off-the-shelf web solution does the job. That's rarer than you'd think.

  • Logins and roles mapped before any screen
  • Figma prototype you click through before the build
  • Connected to Goyzer, Odoo or HubSpot

Start with the chore your team repeats every day, then build around it.

  1. Portals, dashboards and internal tools

Picture a sales team in Business Bay re-typing emailed enquiries into a shared spreadsheet every morning, with 3 versions of the truth by lunch. Sound familiar? An app replaces that routine. Yours might be a customer or partner portal, a member area, a manager's dashboard, a booking and enquiry system, property search or an internal tool your clients never see. Any web design company in Dubai can draw the screens. Web portal development is mostly plumbing and permissions.

  2. When custom web development is worth it

Plenty of businesses in Dubai never need custom. A well-chosen WordPress plugin or Shopify app is often the cheaper right answer, and you don't need an expert web team to add a booking form. Watch for 4 signals: your data has its own shape, several roles need different views, 2 of your systems must talk, or your prices are calculated rather than listed. One signal is a maybe. Two or more? Worth scoping properly.

  3. Connected to the systems you run

For Concept Plus Real Estate / Arabland, a WordPress plugin syncs listings from the Goyzer CRM every hour and sends website leads back. For Richmind, we built an Odoo connector. Integrations are where app projects slip, usually because the other system's documentation was written on a good day. That's why its API (the doorway one system uses to talk to another) gets checked during discovery. Larger integration projects are their own service: CRM and system integration.

How we work

Our web application development process, from discovery to support

Our development process runs in 4 stages. Each one ends in something you can open and check: a scope, a prototype, a working build, a live app. Your dates come from the discovery estimate, not a template filled in before anyone met you.

Who uses it, and what it must do

Who logs in, and what is each of them allowed to touch? Discovery answers that first. Then it maps your data: every field, and the spreadsheet or system it lives in today. Next come the systems your app must talk to, and whether their APIs actually behave as documented. You get a plain answer on plugin or custom, then a scope and estimate built on it.

  • User roles and permissions listed
  • Data and fields mapped, source by source
  • Systems to connect, APIs checked
  • A plain answer: plugin or custom
  • Estimate and dates from the agreed scope

A clickable Figma prototype before code

Moving a button in Figma, one of the leading web design tools, takes minutes. After the build, the same move drags the logic, tests and permissions underneath it, and that's where budgets quietly go. So you click through every screen on your phone before any code exists, with real content instead of placeholder text, since real names and prices break layouts. Arabic right-to-left (RTL) screens get checked here too.

  • Responsive web design for each role
  • Real content, not placeholder text
  • Arabic right-to-left layouts if needed
  • Sales and operations click the same flow
  • Your sign-off before build starts

Built and tested one journey at a time

Your app gets built one complete journey at a time, on a staging site (a private copy) you can review. Building in silence and unveiling everything at once just saves the bad news for the end. Every journey is tested as each role, with realistic or anonymised data, in the leading web browsers. When a connected system goes down, your users see a clear message instead of a broken page.

  • A staging site you can review
  • Tested as each role, on realistic data
  • Integration failures handled gracefully
  • Checked against Core Web Vitals
  • Backups scheduled before launch

Launch, then support or a clean handover

Launch should be the quiet part of your project. Redirects go live with it wherever old URLs change, and your public pages get GA4, Search Console and the SEO basics. Then real users arrive, bringing problems no test predicted, so errors and failed forms get checked after launch. From there, it's your call: ongoing maintenance with us, or a handover to your own team.

  • Go-live with redirects where URLs change
  • GA4 and Search Console on public pages
  • Errors and failed forms checked
  • Maintenance or handover, your choice

How we use AI

Where AI speeds up web app development, and where people decide

01

Reading the requirements

Your requirements usually turn up in pieces. Meeting notes, the spreadsheets the team actually works from, perhaps a PDF of the other system's API documentation. AI sorts that pile into a first draft of fields and roles, and lists what's still unclear. A person goes through it with your team afterwards, line by line, because no model knows which spreadsheet column everyone quietly ignores.

02

Drafting screens and copy

AI writes the rough first pass of the words in your app. User stories, for a start: one-liners such as 'as a partner, I want to see unpaid invoices'. Field labels and error messages too, and the English and Arabic text on buttons. Rough is the point. Nothing ships the way AI drafted it; a writer and a designer rework every line.

03

Code and test scripts

Then the repetitive code. AI suggests boilerplate (the standard code behind forms, lists and permission checks) and can draft test scripts for each role and form. A developer runs those scripts, reviews them and reads every change before it ships. Overcautious? Not really. In an app, one wrong permission can show your client someone else's invoice.

04

Sorting issues after launch

Once you're live, error reports and failed form submissions start piling up, and most are harmless noise. AI helps sort them so the real problems surface. One user on an old phone, or every partner since Tuesday's update? You find out sooner. What gets fixed first is still decided by people, one from your side and one from ours.

Stage 01 / 04

Why us

Choosing a web application development company in Dubai

Lists of the best web development companies in Dubai tell you who exists. They can't show how a team will handle your logins or your CRM. Here's our answer.

We'll say when a plugin is enough

Say you walk into our Dubai office wanting a custom booking portal, and it soon becomes clear a WordPress plugin plus one HubSpot form would handle it. We'll tell you there and then, along with what the plugin can't do. Yes, that means a smaller invoice for us. It's still the advice we'd want in your seat.

Integrations we've already built

Take the hourly Goyzer listing sync behind Concept Plus Real Estate / Arabland, and Richmind's Odoo connector. Integrations rarely fail dramatically. It's the field called 'Mobile' on one side and 'Phone' on the other. Or the sync that stops on a Friday, unnoticed until Monday. You'd be hiring people who know where to look.

Logins, roles and backups agreed first

Before anyone designs your first screen, 4 things get agreed. Who can log in. What each role can see. What it can change. And how your data gets backed up and, more to the point, restored. It's the dullest meeting of the project. Skip it, and you'll have it later, after something breaks.

Dubai and Stockholm, Arabic and English

We work from Dubai and Stockholm, in Arabic and English. Fifteen-plus years in, the count stands at 99+ projects delivered and 140+ brands grown, with 7 case studies published so you can read before you call. Since July 2026, our own site has run on Astro and Storyblok, hosted on Cloudflare Pages.

Start a projectSend the requirement. We'll say if it's a plugin job or a real build.

Capabilities in detail

Custom software development in Dubai, built for the browser

These 16 areas cover a range of web apps, from portals to internal tools. Few apps need all of them, and discovery shows which ones yours needs.

Customer and partner web portal development

A partner logs in to your portal at 9pm to check an order, instead of emailing someone in your Dubai office who's gone home. Custom web portals, from a B2B portal for your distributors to a customer portal for your buyers, usually carry order and case status, downloadable documents, invoices and a way to raise a request. Each company sees only its own records. That last line is where most of the engineering goes.

Dashboards and reporting

A dashboard should answer one question fast: the number your sales manager in Dubai checks first on a Monday morning. Everything else can sit one click deeper. The data stays where it already lives, whether that's your CRM, Odoo, the booking system or a plain spreadsheet. If all your numbers sit in HubSpot, honestly, its own reports may be enough, and that's a cheaper conversation than custom dashboard development.

Internal tools and admin screens

Internal tools replace the shared spreadsheet that's running a process it was never built for. Anyone with edit access can overwrite almost anything, and finding who changed row 214 means a dig through version history. A proper tool records who approved what, and when. Admin screens should use your editors' own labels rather than raw database fields. Same idea, smaller scale: German Medical Center's campaign landing pages were rebuilt as native, editable Elementor widgets.

Booking and enquiry systems

Most of the effort in booking system development goes into wiring nobody sees. Say it's for a Dubai clinic, or a garage. Availability gets checked live, at the moment someone books. Confirmations have to reach the customer's inbox, and a reminder goes out before the appointment. Every enquiry should also land in HubSpot CRM with its source attached; without that, nobody can tell which campaign filled the diary.

Property search and listings

Before anyone designs a filter, property search needs a feed it can trust. Concept Plus Real Estate's listings (the Arabland case study) refresh every hour from the Goyzer CRM through a WordPress plugin, and each website lead goes back into the CRM. A real estate portal still showing a Dubai Marina flat that sold last week wastes an agent's call and a buyer's afternoon. Planning property portal development? Sort the data first.

Interactive interfaces and WebGL scenes

Now and then the interface itself is the pitch. Concept Plus was rebuilt as a scroll-driven WebGL scene (graphics drawn by the browser) on WordPress, with a Floor Plan panel listing the group's divisions. It isn't right for every brand. It also asks more of the build, since a heavy scene has to run smoothly on a mid-range phone. Three.js and GSAP are the usual tools when a brief calls for it.

Member areas, logins and roles

A member area is mostly one decision, repeated: who sees what after logging in. Role-based access (a user's role decides which screens and records they can open) keeps a junior agent at a Dubai brokerage out of commission reports, and one client out of another's files. The small calls matter too. Can users invite colleagues, or only an admin? What happens when the password reset email lands in junk?

Security basics and backups

App security starts with a boring question: which roles can see more than they need? Narrow those first. Sensible login rules and a short admin list come next. Backups should run on a schedule, and someone should actually restore one now and then, because an untested backup is really just a hope. In one of Dubai's regulated sectors? Budget for an independent security audit too.

APIs and webhooks that connect your systems

A system integration looks like one arrow on a whiteboard. Up close there are request limits, fields that mean different things on each side, and webhooks (instant messages one system sends another, such as 'new lead') that occasionally fire twice. Sometimes the CRM simply goes down at 2am Dubai time. Discovery looks for these before anyone promises a date. Richmind's Odoo connector is one we built. No CRM set up yet? Start there.

Custom development inside WordPress

Custom development can live inside WordPress. The Goyzer listing sync, for example, is a WordPress plugin, so its logic sits within the website itself, which is often the cheapest way to get custom behaviour. You'd go standalone when you need screens, records and permission rules beyond WordPress's built-in roles, such as a multi-step approval flow for distributors. Plugins need upkeep too. WordPress updates see to that.

Shopify and e-commerce features

When the job lives in your store, a Shopify build usually beats a separate app. That's how we built the stores for Bafco and Designer's Empire. Shopify covers product options, bundles and checkout branding, plus an app where needed, and its B2B features with an ERP connector (linking stock and finance) handle many trade portals. Separate e-commerce development makes sense once the job goes past buying, say a dealer portal that logs service requests.

AI assistants inside your app

An AI assistant, usually a chatbot, can sit inside your portal and answer from your own content: policies, product sheets, the replies your support team types out every day. The part to get right is the handover. When it isn't sure, it should pass the conversation to a person instead of guessing. Give it clean source content and it can take routine questions off your team's desk.

Discovery, UX and Figma prototypes

UX (user experience: how easily someone finishes a task) and UI (the screens themselves) get settled in Figma, where your team clicks through each one at phone and desktop sizes. That's responsive design tested before anyone codes it. What can it catch? A form that suits the manager who specified it and baffles the staff filling it in 40 times a day, for one. Finished work sits in our 7 published case studies.

App speed and Core Web Vitals

Google's 'good' marks for the 3 Core Web Vitals are 2.5 s for LCP (how long your main content takes to show), 0.1 for CLS (how much the layout jumps) and 200 ms for INP. That last one, how quickly the page reacts to a tap, is the one that bites in an app, because every filter, tab and save button waits on code. Our client sites average 98 in Google PageSpeed.

Arabic and English interfaces

Arabic reads right-to-left (RTL), so most of your interface mirrors: navigation, icons that imply direction, progress bars, even the side a back arrow sits on. The tricky cases are mixed text, like a +971 phone number inside an Arabic sentence, or a property buyer typing Eastern Arabic digits into a price filter. Plain labels help in both languages, too, since plenty of your users in the UAE are reading in their second language.

Support, maintenance and handover

After launch you've got 2 sensible options. Keep us on for updates, backups, security fixes and small changes, or take the handover notes and let your own team run it. Both work. The risky version is nobody owning it, because connected systems keep changing their APIs, and one morning the sync simply stops.

FAQ

Web application development in Dubai, frequently asked questions

Whether it's a web app or website development in Dubai, two questions come up early: what will it cost, and do we need custom at all? Both are answered first.

The cost of a web app in Dubai depends mostly on 4 drivers, and screen count isn't one of them: your user roles, your integrations, data migration and how bespoke the interface is. So a 10-screen partner portal with 3 roles and a CRM sync can cost more than a 30-screen tool used by one team. Taking deposits online adds a payment provider's rules and more testing. Comparing quotes for web development in Dubai? Check each one prices all 4 drivers. Ours comes from a written scope, agreed after discovery, because any firm number before that rests on guesses.

A WordPress plugin will do when the job is mostly content, forms and simple rules, and your team already lives in WordPress. Once users need records and views that WordPress's own user roles can't handle, or the logic gets heavier than you'd trust a plugin to carry, custom development starts to pay off. Somewhere in between sits a custom plugin, written for you and running inside the site you already have. Which of the 3 fits? Discovery answers that plainly.

Building a web application means writing software people use in a browser to get something done, rather than pages they only read. Take a Dubai clinic. Its custom website tells visitors about treatments. Its app lets patients book, reschedule and download a report, while reception sees the day's appointments and the manager sees no-shows by doctor. Nobody installs anything from an app store, either. It opens from a link.

A website, a web app and a mobile app each answer a different question. A website answers 'who are you, and what do you offer?' A web app answers 'can I get this done here?', in any browser, usually behind a login. A mobile app earns its keep when you need an app store listing or deep access to the phone's hardware. We build for the browser, through web apps and our website design and development services. Mobile app development in Dubai is a separate trade, so on complex web and mobile solutions we'd build the web side only.

Build time comes out of discovery, because it hangs on roles, integrations and how much data has to move. For comparison, our published timeline for website development is four to twelve weeks for most sites. Apps are a different animal, and we won't borrow that number for yours. What does shorten your wait? Launching one journey first, so real users start while the rest is built.

Yes, whenever your users work in a browser: a web app is custom software, made for one business and opened from a link. Some software houses also build desktop programs or phone apps; this service stays in the browser. Software solutions in Dubai get sold under both labels. So if you're weighing a custom software development company against a web app developer, compare what each would build for your brief rather than the label on the door.

The services usually include discovery, a Figma prototype, the build, launch and support, for one of 6 common kinds of app. One app can combine two of them. B2B portals let your distributors around the UAE check orders and download price lists. Customer areas hold bookings, documents and invoices. Then there's property search fed by a CRM, management dashboards, internal tools that replace shared spreadsheets, and booking or enquiry systems tied into HubSpot. If yours fits none of them, describe the job rather than the category.

Usually, yes, as long as your CRM or ERP (the software behind stock, orders and accounts) has an API. That link is often the reason to build an app at all. Two examples: listings sync from Goyzer every hour for Concept Plus Real Estate / Arabland, with website leads going back the other way. For Richmind, the link is an Odoo connector we wrote. HubSpot CRM connects the same way. When the integration is the whole job rather than one piece of an app, it's scoped as CRM and system integration.

An app stays secure mostly through decisions made before the build, then habits after it. Settle early who gets a login, which screens each role opens and where backups go. Personal data needs a home too, plus a rule on who may export or delete it. After launch it's housekeeping, mostly prompt updates and switching off a leaver's login the day they go. If you're a company in UAE healthcare, finance or another regulated sector, commission an independent security audit before you launch.

Judge any development company on how it handles your specifics, not on whether a list ranks it one of the best web teams in town. Plenty of agencies on those lists call themselves one of the top web development companies in Dubai, or a trusted web development partner. Fine, but a website development company in Dubai can be great at pages and new to logins and APIs. Ask your shortlist 5 questions. Will they say if a plugin would do? Can they show expertise in web apps, like a live integration? Who owns the code? Will you see a clickable prototype first? And who answers when launch goes wrong?

A first version, or MVP, can launch now and grow later; for most apps that's the smarter start. MVP stands for minimum viable product: only the features you need to launch. One journey goes live, say partner sign-up and ordering, while reporting and extras wait. Real use then tells you what to build next. If you're a Dubai startup planning SaaS (software you host and sell online, usually by subscription), it's how you find out whether anyone will pay. One caution: design the data for the full version. That's what keeps a scalable web app from turning into a rewrite.

A PWA is a browser-based app that can sit on a phone's home screen and keep working on a weak signal. Your field staff benefit most: inspectors, drivers, anyone in a Dubai basement car park or out on site. Most portals and dashboards don't need one, because a fast, phone-friendly app already covers it. The appeal of progressive web apps is one codebase instead of separate web and mobile solutions, with no app store in between. Ask in discovery and you'll get a straight answer for your case.

Your app can work fully in Arabic and English, as long as the right-to-left (RTL) layout is planned in the prototype. Plenty of companies in Dubai and across the UAE need both. Late retrofits show up as misaligned tables, broken date pickers, and an English email address inside Arabic text with its full stop jumping to the wrong end. A language switch should keep your user on the same screen. Public pages also need hreflang tags, the markup that points Arabic searchers to the Arabic page and English searchers to the English one.

You should own the code and the data, and your contract should say so in plain words. Check that it names 4 things as yours: the code repository, the hosting account, the domain, and a full export of your data in a usable format. Ask how that export actually works, too, before you need it. Then if you ever change agency, the move is a handover, not a negotiation. Ask any web development agency in Dubai, us included, to put this in writing.

Support and maintenance are available after launch, and for an app they matter more than people expect. A reliable web app needs more looking after than a corporate website, because the systems it connects to keep changing. Imagine week one after go-live: a partner can't reset a password, and your CRM quietly renames a field. With ongoing maintenance, that's our problem, along with updates, backups and small changes. With a handover, it's your team's, and they get notes to start from. Either way, decide before launch.

Your app's public pages can show up on Google, but the screens behind a login won't, because Google's crawler doesn't sign in. Listings, booking pages and service pages are the ones worth preparing for people searching in Dubai. Each one needs text Google can read in the HTML and a place in your XML sitemap. Add structured data (JSON-LD code describing the page), and hreflang tags if you run Arabic and English versions. Speed counts as well, measured as Core Web Vitals. Search Console then shows what got indexed. The rankings themselves still have to be earned.

The technologies we reach for most are Figma for design and HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the build. Astro, GSAP and Three.js come in where speed or motion matters. Server-side logic can live in a WordPress plugin or on Cloudflare Workers, depending on where your content already sits. Integrations reach your CRM or ERP through REST APIs and webhooks. What other development companies in Dubai use matters less than what your team can maintain. If they already know WordPress, that counts for a lot.

Taking over an app that another Dubai web development agency built is often possible, but the verdict comes after reading the code. Expect one of 3 outcomes: extend it as it is, refactor it (tidy the code without changing what it does), or rebuild. What decides it doesn't show on screen. How is your data stored? Did anyone document the integrations? How old are the dependencies, the outside code libraries it relies on? Have your repository, hosting and admin access ready, or nobody can judge it properly.

Hire in-house developers if the app is your product and changes weekly; if you need a defined build, use a web design and development agency. Recruiting developers in Dubai takes time, and one professional web developer rarely covers design, front end, integrations and security alone. Nor does a web design agency in Dubai that doesn't write code. A hybrid often works better: an agency builds and documents version one, then your development team takes it from there. Salary comparisons also miss the time a lone developer spends stuck, with nobody to review their work.

For an estimate, send a paragraph on what the app must do and who'll use it. Then add what you can: the systems it has to talk to, the spreadsheets and forms your team uses today, any deadline that's genuinely fixed, and who signs off. Screenshots of the current workaround often help more than a polished brief. Need web design services in Dubai for the public site too? Say so, and one brief covers both. It goes to a senior person in Dubai or Stockholm, who'll reply within one working day, usually with questions first.
