Generative engine optimisation, measured rather than assumed

A growing share of the answers your buyers read are assembled by a model that cites a handful of sources. If you are not among them you are absent from the conversation, and most companies have no idea whether they are cited or not because nobody has checked.

  • Measured we check what cites you
  • Crawler access the first thing we audit
  • Extractable structure models can read

Partners & recognition

The stack we work in, the clients we keep

The platforms we build and run campaigns in, and the clients whose numbers we publish with their names on. HubSpot is the one partnership we claim; the rest are tools we use, not badges.

The problem

Nobody knows whether they are cited

Ask a marketing team how they rank for their main term and they will tell you. Ask whether an AI assistant recommends them and almost nobody can answer, because it does not appear in any report they receive.

Why that matters now

  1. Your robots file may be blocking the crawlers

Several AI crawlers are separate user agents from Googlebot. Plenty of sites block them without a decision ever being made, usually because a plugin default or a security product added the rule. This is the single most common reason a company is absent, and it takes ten minutes to check.

  2. Client-rendered content is often invisible

Google renders JavaScript, on a delay and a budget. Several AI crawlers do far less of it. A site that assembles its main content client-side can be perfectly indexed in Google and close to empty to the systems producing AI answers.

  3. The claims are not attributable

Models cite sources that make specific, checkable statements. Marketing prose full of 'industry-leading' and 'innovative solutions' contains nothing to quote, so it does not get quoted.

  4. There is no measurement at all

You cannot manage what nobody is looking at. Most companies find out they are absent from AI answers when a customer mentions it, which is the expensive way to learn.

What is included

What GEO actually involves

Much of it is unglamorous and technical. The parts that sound clever matter less than the parts that sound obvious.

Crawler access audit

Which AI user agents your robots file, CDN and WAF allow, and which they block. Checked at the edge as well as in the file, because Cloudflare and similar products can block independently of anything in robots.txt.

Server-side rendering review

What is present in the raw HTML before any script runs. If your key claims arrive via JavaScript, a meaningful share of AI crawlers will never see them.

Extractable page structure

Headings that map to real questions, answers that appear directly under them, tables and lists where the data suits them. Structure that lets a model lift a clean answer without reconstructing your argument.

Citable claims

Specific numbers, dates, named methods and stated sources. A page that says a process takes four to six weeks and explains what changes it is quotable. A page that says 'rapid turnaround' is not.

Entity consistency

Your business described the same way everywhere — name, address, services, people. Models assemble an understanding of who you are from many sources, and contradictions between them reduce confidence in all of them.

Structured data

Organisation, LocalBusiness, Article, FAQPage, Service and Product where they genuinely apply. Not a ranking factor, and a real help to any system trying to parse what a page asserts.

Presence in the sources models read

Industry listings, credible directories, comparison articles and publications that already get cited in your category. Being mentioned in a source a model trusts is often worth more than another page on your own site.

Citation monitoring

Running the questions your buyers actually ask across the major assistants on a schedule, and recording who gets cited. This is the measurement layer, and almost nobody has it.

Technology

What we use to measure it

The measurement is the part most GEO offers skip, because it is the part that can show the work did not help.

Access

The first thing to check.

  • robots.txt audit
  • CDN and WAF rule review
  • Server log analysis
  • User-agent testing

Rendering

What a crawler sees before JavaScript.

  • Raw HTML inspection
  • Server-side rendering review
  • Screaming Frog
  • Rich Results Test

Citation tracking

Whether it is working.

  • Scheduled assistant prompt testing
  • Citation logging over time
  • Competitor citation share
  • Branded search movement

Structure

So a model can extract cleanly.

  • JSON-LD schema
  • Heading architecture
  • Entity consistency audit
  • Semrush

How we work

How a GEO engagement runs

Access first, because everything else is wasted if the crawlers cannot reach you.

Before anything else

Robots rules, CDN and firewall behaviour, and what the raw HTML contains. This is unglamorous and it is where a surprising share of the total gain sits, because a blocked crawler makes every other improvement irrelevant.

  • AI user agents tested individually
  • CDN and WAF rules reviewed
  • Raw HTML checked without JavaScript
  • Blocking decisions made deliberately

So there is something to compare against

The questions your buyers ask, run across the major assistants and recorded. Who is cited, how often, and what they said. Without this baseline, any later claim of improvement is unverifiable.

  • Buyer question set built with you
  • Run across major assistants
  • Citations logged with dates
  • Competitor citation share recorded

Specific, structured, sourced

Rewriting for extractability: real questions as headings, direct answers underneath, specific numbers with the conditions attached, and schema that describes what the page asserts.

  • Headings mapped to real questions
  • Vague claims replaced with specific ones
  • Tables and lists where the data suits
  • Schema applied and validated

On a schedule, including when it did not move

The same question set re-run monthly against the baseline. Where citation share has not moved we say so and change approach, rather than pointing at traffic that rose for unrelated reasons.

  • Same questions, same schedule
  • Change reported against baseline
  • No movement reported as no movement
  • Approach changed when it is not working

Why us

Why this is honest about a young discipline

GEO is roughly two years old as a named practice. Anybody claiming a proven playbook is overstating it, and the useful thing is to be specific about what is known.

We measure citations, not vibes

A baseline before the work and the same questions re-run monthly. It is the only way to tell whether anything changed, and it is the part most offers leave out.

Crawler access comes first

Because a blocked crawler makes everything else pointless, and because a genuinely large share of the sites we check are blocking something without having decided to.

We separate what is known from what is inferred

Structured data helping extraction is well supported. Specific claims about how much any one tactic moves citation share are not, and we label them as opinion rather than dressing them up.

It builds on SEO rather than replacing it

The models are largely reading the web that search engines index. A site that is technically sound and genuinely useful is most of the way there, which means most of this work has value even if AI search stalls.

Questions

Generative engine optimisation, answered plainly

Including what nobody can honestly promise yet.

AED 8,000 to AED 30,000 covers most of what we are asked to build. The number moves on how many pages need restructuring, whether ongoing citation monitoring is included, how many languages, and how many assistants are tracked. Anything quoted before those are known is a guess. We scope first, then price, and the scope document is yours whether or not you proceed. These are market ranges rather than a fixed rate card — the proposal carries the real figure.

Work that makes your site more likely to be used and cited as a source when an AI system generates an answer. In practice that means crawler access, content a model can extract cleanly, claims specific enough to quote, and consistent information about your business across the web.

They overlap heavily and the industry uses them loosely. The distinction we use: GEO is about being a source that generative systems cite when they compose an answer. AEO is about winning the direct answer itself, whether that is a featured snippet, a voice result or an assistant's reply. Worth knowing that Google returns completely different results for the two terms, with no overlap at all in the top ten, so they are not interchangeable in practice either.

Because almost everybody searching it right now wants to understand what it means. There is not a single agency service page on the first page of results in Dubai. That is worth knowing for two reasons: nobody has claimed the commercial version of this term yet, and you should be sceptical of anyone selling a mature GEO methodology for a discipline this new.

There is no switch, and anyone offering one is guessing. What demonstrably helps: let the crawlers in, serve your content in the HTML rather than assembling it with JavaScript, make specific checkable claims rather than marketing adjectives, structure pages so an answer sits directly under the question it answers, and get mentioned in the third-party sources that already get cited in your category. Then measure, because without a baseline you cannot tell whether any of it worked.

It is a legitimate decision and it depends on your business. A publisher whose revenue comes from people visiting pages has a real argument for blocking. A services business that wants to be recommended almost certainly does not. The point is to decide rather than to discover a plugin decided for you.

No, and treat any guarantee as a reason to walk away. There is no submission process, no ranking dashboard and no direct control. What we can do is remove the blockers, make the pages genuinely quotable, and measure the outcome honestly, including when it does not move.

A fixed set of the questions your buyers actually ask, run across the major assistants on a schedule and logged. We record who gets cited and how that changes. It is a sample rather than a census, and answers vary between runs, so we look at trends across repeated tests rather than reading a single result as fact.

No, and the framing is mostly marketing. The models are largely reading the same web that search engines index, so technical health, useful content and credible mentions serve both. What has genuinely changed is that informational queries increasingly get answered without a click, which is an argument for focusing on commercial pages rather than for abandoning search.

Access fixes are immediate. Content restructuring runs over one to three months depending on how many pages. Citation change, where it happens, has typically taken us two to four months to see in the monitoring, and it does not happen on every engagement.

Yes, and we will do that at no charge. It is a few minutes of work and it is the single most common problem we find, so we would rather tell you than sell around it.
